Speaker Spotlight- Sherri Young Theoharidis, Ph.D

Sherri Young Theoharidis, Ph.D

Sherri Theoharidis, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Gladstone, and at the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Counseling, Health and Testing Center.  Areas of special interest include body image and eating disorders, issues of abuse/ trauma, self-esteem, women’s issues and identity development. At UMKC, Dr. Theoharidis developed and Chairs the Eating Disorder Treatment Team and conducts individual therapy, clinical supervision, and presentations on campus. Dr. Theoharidis has conducted presentations, seminars and workshops on topics related to positive body image, eating disorders, self- esteem, women’s issues, relationships and trauma. She is currently a contributor to an upcoming Kansas City magazine, My Size Magazine. She has also taught a graduate psychology course at Avila University on Counseling specific to Eating Disorders. In 2010 Dr. Theoharidis was selected to present her teleseminar: Subtitles in Eating Disorder Treatment: The Role of Relationships and Identity that was nationally broadcast through the International Academy of Eating Disorder Professionals. Dr. Theoharidis is a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, Academy of Eating Disorders, and the Association for the Development of the Person-Centered Approach. She previously presented her research related to eating disorder relapse at the 2004 International Conference of Eating Disorders.
